Originally
from Mississippi, Harold Higginbottom's flooring career and eventual
company ownership began with an on-the-spot hiring from a carpet
store owner who asked him to assist on an up-coming installation
job in Ill. Quickly learning the trade, it wasn't long before
Harold began taking jobs on his own while working with a wide variety
of textiles, woods, laminates. Soon after, he became employed
with highly skilled Armenian flooring company owner who easily recognized
Harold's talent and dedication to learning as much as he could about
the wood and carpet flooring trade.
"We covered up more wood floors than we laid" states Harold.
Carpets were at that time extremely popular. With Harold's
excellent reputation, many came to know him for his highly skilled
installation and wood craftsmanship work.
Moving to California in 79, Harold continued in
the carpeting industry through his employment for Sears &Roebuck.
While there his installation jobs spanned from Santa Rosa, to Marin
to San Francisco installing for major retailers like Macys, Emporium
Capwells and other Sears locations. Eventually settling
in Morgan Hill in 88, Harold went to work for local carpeting dealer,
then went on to open and operate his own location in 92. Over
the years, Higginbottom Flooring Co. has become known for their
excellence in product knowledge, superb customer service and quality
work. Building his business on referrals alone, the Higginbottom
name has become synonymous with top quality work all the way around!
